  • What is the best way to prepare my furniture before painting?
    The surface needs to be clean, dry and grease free and free of penetrating substances. We advise a scrub with sugar soap, rinse and allow to dry. Once dry giive the piece a light sanding to give the first coat of paint a surface to adhere to. Wipe off any dust and you are ready to paint. Please refer to the tin for more instructions.
  • How long do i need to leave the paint to dry between coats?
    A minimum of 1 hour between coats is recommended.
  • How long does it take the wax or finishing coat to dry?
    In most situations the wax will dry in 30-45 minutes, but on some furniture it may take a couple of days to fully dry. The finishing coat will be touch dry in 15-30 minutes, however, for best results 2-3 coats are needed. it is best to rewax or add more finishing coat every 12 months.
  • Is Frenchic furniture paint safe to use on children's toys and furniture?
    Yes, Frenchic furniture paint has been certified as being safe to use on children's funiture and toys as per EN71:3.
  • The paint is quite thick and rich, can i thin it?"
    We suggest suing it 'as is', however it can be thinned using a little tap water but it is best to pour the paint into another container and then add water to not contaminate the entire tin of paint with the water.
  • What are VOC's and what makes Frenchic different?
    VOC's are volatile organic compounds that are found in many paints. These chemicals evaporate and can easily get into the air at room temperature. They are harmful to both your health and the environment. The effects will depend on the nature of the volotile organic compound, the level of exposure and the length of exposure. Frenchic furniture paint is low in VOC's.
